Pacific Oaks College
2022 Commencement Booklet

In 2022, Pacific Oaks College celebrated their 62nd Commencment. The main piece of collateral needed for this event was their commencement booklet. Below, I'll go into different aspects that I put into the design.

This piece is an elevated version of the Pacific Oaks (PO) branding. Because of this I created a minimalist design, using secondary brand colors. While one of Pacific Oaks' main brand colors is their bright green, this more muted teal matched the elegant style more than the bright green would. I also went with a serif font to match this style, and used their icon as the piece bringing the text into the rest of the space. We also decided to go with a raised spot gloss to "2022" to add an elevated piece.

The rest of the booklet followed a pre-created template, but the real challenge came in making sure all of the new content fit within this template while looking elevated and like it fits. We went with a script font for the section headers for the elegant style, a serious, all cap serif for our headings to fit the style, and avenir book (one of Pacific Oaks' brand fonts) for the body copy to make sure the booklet still had some PO branding. A dark blue from Pacific Oaks' color palette was used for the section headings to add more brand recognition into the piece.
